Thrashville returns to the lush bushland of Dashville in Lower Belford, Hunter Valley, on Saturday, 27 June 2026. Celebrated as the region’s heaviest music gathering, this inclusive, single-day outdoor festival delivers a high-energy feast of punk, hard rock, and heavy metal across four vibrant stages.
Following a medical cancellation by US punk band FEAR, homegrown legends Cosmic Psychos will headline the powerhouse lineup alongside premier acts like Disentomb, The Bennies, and Dregg. Beyond the music, attendees can enjoy pro-skateboarding displays, a walk-in tattoo parlour, live graffiti art, local food, and onsite camping.
HEAVY sent each band a short Q&A in order to get to know them a bit better. Today, we get better acquainted with Disentomb.
Disentomb is a formidable four-piece brutal death metal band hailing from Brisbane, Queensland. Formed in 2009, the group has established itself as the epitome of the Australian extreme music underground. They are globally renowned for their unique, devastating blend of low-end, slamming brutality mixed with intricate technical progression and bleak, dissonant string work.
Fronted by the commanding presence of vocalist Jordan James, the band has unleashed acclaimed studio albums like Misery and The Decaying Light, alongside their experimental EP Nothing Above. They have toured heavily across Europe and America, sharing stages with extreme metal heavyweights like Cannibal Corpse and Dying Fetus.

HEAVY: THRASHVILLE 2026 is nearly upon us. Have you ever been to Thrashville before as a punter or performing?
DISENTOMB: I’ve never been, but have always wanted to spend time in the Hunter Valley, so there really is no better way to do it than performing and also seeing the crazy lineup of bands we have the honour of sharing the stage with.
What does it mean to you to be playing Thrashville?
As a band, we are completely stoked. When it comes to alternative music in any forms, we are proud to fly the flag on the more brutal side of things. We’re massive music fans, so there’s a lot of bands like Hybrid Nightmares that we are keen on catching.
How important are festivals like Thrashville for Australian bands?
It cannot be understated how important it is for festivals like Thrashville to exist. The quality of alternative music in Australia is among the best in the world, and if we as a scene and country want to make sure that fans, as well as emerging bands, have these opportunities, then we need to support them.
It’s a long day of music. What will you be doing to make sure you will still be standing come your set time?
Energy drinks, beers and hanging out with mates keep the vibes going! So I’m sure we’ll be in a good spot by the time we hit the stage.

What song do you think the crowd would want you to play to finish your set, and what are you going to play?
Vultures Descend is one of our more popular songs, but we have a surprise for everyone on the day.
What one song would you tell festival goers to listen to of yours if they haven’t heard you play before?
Go listen to Vultures Descend, but I’d say seeing the music live is a whole other experience.
What is your most recent release?
In 2024 we released an EP called Nothing Above.
Finally, what plans does your band have for the rest of 2026?
We have a new album in the works, and it’s going to absolutely crush! Keep an ear out.
