Thrashville returns to the lush bushland of Dashville in Lower Belford, Hunter Valley, on Saturday, 27 June 2026. Celebrated as the region’s heaviest music gathering, this inclusive, single-day outdoor festival delivers a high-energy feast of punk, hard rock, and heavy metal across four vibrant stages.
Following a medical cancellation by US punk band FEAR, homegrown legends Cosmic Psychos will headline the powerhouse lineup alongside premier acts like Disentomb, The Bennies, and Dregg. Beyond the music, attendees can enjoy pro-skateboarding displays, a walk-in tattoo parlour, live graffiti art, local food, and onsite camping.
HEAVY sent each band a short Q&A in order to get to know them a bit better. Today, we get better acquainted with Purple Disturbance.
Purple Disturbance are an explosive four-piece punk and alternative rock band from Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. The young group has rapidly carved out a reputation for making an absolute “bloody racket” across the Australian music scene.
Their sound blends raw, high-energy punk riffs with gritty, honest lyrics that tackle small-town youth culture. The lineup features charismatic frontman Thomas Downes, guitarist Jed Freudenstein, bassist Joshua Downes, and powerhouse drummer Jessica Franklin. Together, they deliver a chaotic and unforgettable live show.

HEAVY: THRASHVILLE 2026 is nearly upon us. Have you ever been to Thrashville before as a punter or performing?
PURPLE DISTURBANCE: Purple Disturbance have not attended Thrashville as punters or performers before. We are very excited to have this opportunity to play our music to an audience like Thrashville and to be a part of the festival environment this year.
H: What does it mean to you to be playing Thrashville?
PD: To be a part of Thrashville this year means the world to us. It’s one of those festivals where we can let things get loose and chaotic, and the audience will be right there with us for the duration of our set.
H: How important are festivals like Thrashville for Australian bands?
PD: They are important as they give a stage to us heavier bands. Australia’s festival scene is tight so to have a festival that primarily focuses on giving heavier Australian bands a platform to play their music to other heavy music lovers is fantastic! It will be a day of discovery and new music for festival goers and musicians alike.
H: Which bands are you most looking forward to and why?
PD: Honestly, it’s a great lineup this year. I think we are all excited to see different acts, but just to be able to play on a festival bill alongside great homegrown talent is exciting in itself. Will be a perfect opportunity for all bands to meet one another and watch each other play!
H: It’s a long day of music. What will you be doing to make sure you will still be standing come your set time?
PD: It may be a big day of music, however, when you have anticipation and adrenaline running through you before your set, that’ll push you through any tiredness you may have and lucky for us, Thrashville is one of those festivals that will keep you awake and wired for the day.
H: Give me your Top 3 Festival survival tips.
PD: Stay hydrated, water, beer, wine, piss, whatever you can get your hands on!
Wear shoes you can survive the day in.
Prepare yourself for the mosh and look after one another in the pit.
H: Which band – other than yourself – do you think will get up to the most mischief on the day?
PD: I will be seriously disappointed if it’s not us. I have high hopes for Good Sniff. They look like they are more than capable of being the amusement for the day.
H: What song do you think the crowd would want you to play to finish your set, and what are you going to play?
PD: We usually finish up the set with our song “When Whales Explode” it’s heavy; it ends with chaos. What more could you possibly want to end the set with?
H: What one song would you tell festival goers to listen to of yours if they haven’t heard you play before?
PD: We’d recommend listening to our song “Criticise Penalise Attack And Slam.” It’s the song on our discography that we feel captures our live energy the best and can semi-prepare an audience for what they are in for when we step out on that stage.
H: What is your most recent release?
PD: Our most recent release is our song “Bloody Racket” recorded with Pete Dyball at Valleysounds. It’s our newest edition to our catalogue, released in December of last year.
H: Finally, what plans does your band have for the rest of 2026?
PD: We as a band have a few things up our sleeve for the year that we are very excited to announce soon. We hope to play as many shows as possible and continue to write new music, and just overall keep putting on a show for any audience we have in front of us.
