With We Are The End, Unholy Minority deliver a powerful and energetic metal
album that highlights both their musical growth and their determination to establish
themselves further within the German metal scene. Formed in 2018 in Fulda, the
band have steadily developed a sound that blends melodic death metal and thrash
elements with touches of power metal, creating a dynamic and hard hitting identity
that reflects their strong chemistry and clear artistic direction.
The album opens with Intro, a short atmospheric piece that sets the stage before
Trenches Of Death kicks in with tight riffing and driving drums. Right from the
start, the band showcase their ability to combine aggression with melody, building a
sound that feels heavy but structured and accessible at the same time. Maxx delivers
powerful and expressive vocals that carry the songs forward, while the guitars of Moo
and Hannes create a solid wall of sound filled with sharp riffs and melodic leads.
No Mans Land and We All Have To Fly Away continue the momentum with a
strong mix of thrash driven energy and melodic passages. The rhythm section, driven
by Lukas on bass and Simon on drums, keeps the album grounded and energetic,
giving the songs a tight and dynamic foundation. Especially in these tracks, the
band’s ability to write memorable and structured songs becomes very clear,
balancing speed and heaviness with emotional depth.
With Straight To Hell and Black Death, the album moves into darker and more
aggressive territory. The riffs become heavier, the atmosphere more intense, and the
overall sound feels more direct and uncompromising. Legion Of The Dead and
Shadow Warriors bring back strong melodic hooks while maintaining the
pressure, showing the band’s versatility and their understanding of how to keep the
listener engaged throughout the record.
Beowulf stands out as one of the more epic moments on the album, combining
powerful storytelling with dynamic instrumentation and strong melodic leads. The title
track We Are The End follows with a confident and determined energy, acting as a
central statement of the record and underlining the band’s identity and musical
direction. Living In Ruins then closes the album on a fitting note, bringing together
melody, heaviness, and atmosphere in a cohesive and emotional final chapter.
On a personal level, this album carries special meaning. Having known Unholy
Minority for several years and being personally familiar with the band, it is impressive
to hear how much they have grown and refined their sound over time. I have also
had the chance to see them live, and the energy and sheer heaviness they bring to
the stage translate directly into this album. Their live performances are intense, tight,
and full of passion, and that same power can be felt throughout the entire record.
With We Are The End, Unholy Minority present a strong and confident metal
album that reflects their growth, dedication, and musical identity. The combination of
melodic death metal, thrash driven aggression, and powerful songwriting results in a
cohesive and energetic record that leaves a lasting impression.
Knowing the band personally and having experienced their live performances makes
