Froth & Fury Festival 2026 is sneaking up on us rapidly, and with so many bands playing there is no way HEAVY will have time to speak to them all. Which is why we have sent out a carefully curated set of questions to each band and let them take their time in answering. The first of which to do so was the mighty Valhalore. Get to know the band a bit better below…
Welcome to the FROTH & FURY FROTHY DOZEN where you get a chance to let everyone know what it is about you and your band that makes them special. There are no wrong answers, but choose wisely, hehe…
HEAVY: Firstly, tell us the name of your band, tell us a bit about yourself and why you were put in charge to answering these questions?
VALHALORE: I’m Lachie, and I’m the vocalist for Brisbane’s Valhalore. Doesn’t every singer get to do the interviews? It’s part of the gig, right?
H: Froth & Fury 2026 is just around the corner, what have you been doing to make sure you are ready to kick ass come show time?
V: We’ve been busily touring our new album ‘Beyond The Stars’ across the Aussie East Coast and Europe this year, so we’re feeling locked in and read to return to Perth!
H: Each year sees a great mix of international bands and local artists descend on Froth & Fury, but this year there’s also an Australian band, Polaris, with their name at the top of the posters as headliner. What does that say to you as a band in the Australian music scene?
V: To be on a festival with such a diverse array of heavy music is truly a testament to the organisers and the ever-growing heavy music scene in Australia. When it comes to Polaris, it’s been so encouraging and inspiring to see the success they’ve achieved in their career so far, and the hardships they have overcome. It’s an honour to be on a poster with them, honestly. Personally I have been a huge fan of theirs for years now, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing them live once again.
H: It’s a long day of music, with lots of froth and lots of fury. What will you be doing to make sure you will still be standing come your set time?
V: Well, after a few years of making… questionable choices on tours, I have learned to save my drinking until after the show is done! So I’ll just have to make sure I take it a bit easy in the mosh pit until our time is done, and then let the party begin!
H: Give me your Top 3 Festival survival tips.
V: Pre-hydration (with water, not beer!) is essential! So lots of water to start the day, keep on the sunscreen, and comfy shoes to keep you moshing!
H: Which band – other than maybe yourselves – do you think will get up to the most mischief on the day?
V: I know Frenzal are always down to party, so definitely them. But hey, a backstage dance party with Abbath over a few beers would be pretty wild
H: What song do you think the crowd would want you to play to finish your set?
V: We love to leave people drinking and dancing, so Across The Frozen Ocean is always a good way to finish our show.
H: We’re assuming you won’t giveaway to us what the last song of your set will be, but can you let us in on what the first song of your set will, or potentially be?
V: As this is the Perth leg of our ‘Beyond The Stars’ album cycle, we’ll be kicking things off with the album opening suite – ‘Life + Edge of Forever’. Sets everyone up for a fun set!
H: One of the best things about festivals is the chance to see bands you might have not even heard of before, so say someone is coming and has no idea who you are, what three songs of yours should they listen to, so they know what to expect?
V: I think one of our strengths as a band is that we don’t try to limit ourselves to one particular “box”. So I’d say the “Valhalore Tasting Platter” would be something like ‘The Storm’, ‘Horizon’ and ‘Solace’ (if you wanted something more mellow and acoustic).
H: You get to jump up with one band on the day to do guest vocals to one of their songs. Which band do you get up with and what song do you sing?
V: If Jamie and Jake needed a hand I’d love to get up and do ‘Pray For Rain’ with Polaris.
H: Time to rip out the crystal ball and predict two Australian and two International bands you think will be on next years line-up. The closest to guessing all four gets a big frothy tinny and a furiously big high five…
V: I reckon Ne Obliviscaris and Triple Kill would be great Aussie additions to next year’s festival. For the internationals, Eluveitie and Aephanemer would be great.
H: Finally, what plans does your band have for the rest of 2026 after F&F goes back into hibernation until 2027?
V: We have a few things in the pipeline (local band has “big things coming soon”), but definitely some more touring domestically and abroad, and maybe even starting work on our third album…
