Although this was the fourth year that Festyville has been held in the normally sleepy town of Lismore, it was my first visit to both the town and the gig. I only went this year because I was on babysitting duties with Frankenbok, but what I discovered was a gem of a mini music festival run by two of the coolest people (Kerrie and Rob) I had somehow avoided meeting until now.
While I wasn’t there in an official capacity (i.e reviewing), I didn’t need to take notes to relay how great every band that played on the first day (and only day I was there) – Saturday – were. There was a mix of everything from punk to hardcore to heavy rock to groove metal to Frankenbok, and the whole day was filled with laughs, fun and live, loud music. If you haven’t checked out Festyville before, make sure you keep an eye out for it around this time every year. In fact, keep an eye out for anything Kerrie or Pigs Arse Productions puts on because she does a hell of a lot for the local music scene if Festyville is anything to go by.

I could try to separate them into specific bands for you, but I would likely mess up, so the best I can do is split them into Day 1 and Day 2, and you can sort the rest. The first day featured Gusset Rats, Gudgeon, Kathleen Turner Overdrive, I Hate People, Tomohung, Parhelion, Snake Mountain, Stench Pit and Frankenbok, while Day 2 saw The Passengers, Raygun, Mortlock, The Distained, Salty Tenders, Hot Mess, Thundergod Of The Multiverse, NUEXIT and Serial Pest take the stage.
