Heavy Sunday is a Brisbane-based rock band bringing a fresh blast of energy to the local music scene.
Known for their high-octane performances and tongue-in-cheek attitude, the band blends the punch of punk with the grit of classic rock, adding just enough heaviness to keep things interesting. Drawing influence from punk heavyweights like Sum 41, The Offspring, and Blink-182, as well as the quirky aggression of System of a Down, Heavy Sunday crafts songs that hit hard while not taking themselves too seriously.
In 2025, Heavy Sunday dropped their debut EP, Wrong Side of the Right Time, showcasing their knack for melodic hooks, driving riffs, and unapologetic energy. The EP’s standout single, Catfished, has become a crowd favourite, with its official music video released on August 22. The song is based on the story of a friend of the band who separated from his partner of many years and then discovered dating apps. Thinking he was set for a romantic evening and getting back into the dating scene, he was quickly humbled by a catfish that lured him in with highly edited and filtered photos.
