Twelve years is a long time, but fear not metal fans of Australia for SYLOSIS are currently rectifying that absence with a string of dates with seven-headed Canadian deathcore beast ANGELMAKER.
Sylosis were last here as part of Soundwave 2013 and Aussie fans get to witness a band at the peak of their musical ability, buoyed by the full-time return of guitarist/vocalist Josh Middleton who spent a prolonged period with ARCHITECTS.
HEAVY caught up with Middleton to get up to speed.
“We’ve got enough albums now that it makes it harder to pick a set list,” he expressed. “We’ll always try and cover every record when we play live, but admittedly, I think even fans of… it’s inevitable, when you get into a band whatever record you get into first is your favourite, but I think fans of earlier records would agree that when they see us the new stuff goes down so much better live. It’s more intense and fun to play, and the songs were written with that in mind a bit more. Some of our old songs are really long, and we’ll be playing fast thrash for, like, five minutes straight and there’s not as much variety. The new stuff just hits so much harder live. It’s really fun to play.”
