Bass player Chris Bailey has passed away after a battle with cancer.
He was a key member of two iconic Australian bands during a 40 year career in music, playing with Rock legends The Angels, and with Pop/Rock band GANGgajang.
Born in Adelaide, Bailey was in numerous local bands in the early ’70s, including a brief stint with the Mount Lofty Rangers which also included Bon Scott prior to his joining AC DC.
Bailey was a member of the Angels during the initial success of The Angels and played on the first 5 albums, including the classic ‘Face to Face’ and ‘No Exit’ albums. He was also a part of numerous Angels reformations and variations in the past decade. Plans to tour as The Angels in 2013 were put on hold in January after announcements that both Bailey and singer Doc Neeson were battling cancer.
In 1984 he was a founding member of GANGgajang, perhaps best known for their 1985 single “Sounds of Then (This Is Australia)”.
