With chugging riffs, pounding drums and snarling vocals, “Time’s Up” is like a spooky horror movie condensed to three minutes and twenty seconds. The visual accompaniment, directed and edited by Adelaide filmmaker Curtis Brownjohn is a playful deviation from standard doom metal aesthetics and looks at the trio’s final hours together before an impending doom wreaks chaos.
If you’re looking for the classic 10-minute doom epics, you won’t find it with Rocky’s Pride and Joy. The band delivers their dark lyrical content in concise slabs of hard and heavy-hitting grooves and pairs it with their spirited and high energy vibe.
The music video of “Time’s Up” offers a contemporary take (in a retro fashion) on the classic fateful visualisations that doom metal is known to conjure up.
Time’s Up was filmed on Kaurna Land in the Adelaide foothills on Super 8 films by Curtis Brownjohn Films.
