The Dead Daisies - South Korea

Years ago some lunatic created the adage “Rock is dead”… Well, if these chart records don’t prove otherwise, then we all lunatics here at HEAVY HQ.

CANADA:

To back up our claim further, we’ve got Airbourne’s latest hard rock album, “Breakin’ Outta Hell”, at #3 on the German charts, #9 in the UK, #13 Australia, #1 Canada, #8 US, #3 Austria, #4 Switzerland and more such numbers.

Nope, Rock is not dead.

The Dead Daisies are using the power of rock to help raise funds for the “Force Behind the Forces” in conjunction with The United Service Organizations Inc. (USO Show) which is a nonprofit organisation that’s provided live entertainment United States service members and their families since 1941. After the USO was disbanded in 1947, it was revived in 1950 for the Korean War, after which it also provided peacetime services. During the Vietnam War, USOs were sometimes located in combat zones. Entertainers included Bob Hope, Errol Flynn, Debbie Reynolds, Marilyn Monroe, Mickey Rooney, Al Jolson and many others.

The Dead Daisies are stepping up to support a USO launched initiative and announce a seven-day USO tour to South Korea. Force Behind the Forces is a brand awareness campaign encouraging Americans to stand in support of service members and military families. The trip, which spans October 27 – November 2, will include USO shows at Camp Casey (October 30), K-16 Air Base (October 31) and Osan Air Base (November 1).

February 4th marked the USO’s 75th anniversary and the kick-off of a year-long celebration around the world. The Dead Daisies upcoming USO tour to South Korea is part of that celebration.
