In an age of music that is constantly searching for improvements and advancements, it is refreshing to see a band that elects to go back on the musical timeline rather than rush forward.
Sydney doom/sludge/metal merchants Mountain Wizard Death Cult did just that towards the end of last year with the release of debut single Eye of the Sun on cassette tape, bucking trends and conventions in the process.

“We did actually”, laughed guitarist Chris Chaplin when asked if they managed to sell any. “That was something that we wanted to do because we weren’t planning on doing a physical release for that track. A lot of people were asking for it so we thought it would be something fun to make it really DIY with us getting the cases made ourselves and hand numbering each one to make it a limited edition type thing as well. The response was great! They are just about all gone and the ones that we have left over we have decided to sell with all of the proceeds going to Wires. With everything that has happened throughout Australia and also not too far from where we are it is only fitting that we do our part”.
