New Music From SPLIT FEED

Newcastle’s raucous garage-punk purveyors Split Feed return today with anthemic thumper ‘Trinkets‘, arriving alongside iconic visuals and news of their forthcoming second EP, Second Skin.

A pertinent reminder of the band’s ability to combine hard-hitting, infectious melodies with poignant lyricism, ‘Trinkets’ explores the curious power inanimate objects can hold as physical reminders of past relationships. Split Feed vocalist and guitarist Joe Willis explains, “I have a little souvenir that I got when I was overseas a while ago during a past relationship that brings back positive but also negative memories. This song sort of adopts a tug of war motif, I’m wanting to let go of some of these memories that are aroused from this souvenir but there are some memories that keep me from throwing it away.”

‘Trinkets’ is the first cut of Split Feed’s forthcoming second EP, recorded and produced by Fletcher Matthews (Dear Seattle, Sweater Curse, Clews), and arrives off the back of a massive 2018 for the four-piece. After winning triple j Unearthed’s competition to open Groovin’ the Moo 2018 in Maitland, the band shared single ‘Homesick‘ which premiered via triple j’s Home & Hosed and was added to Spotify’s ‘Local Noise’ and ‘New Rock’, accumulating over 75K streams on the platform alone.
