In the latest drama we find that Down have been booted from The FortaRock festival in the Netherlands. Anselmo has been told that he and his bandmates are “no longer welcome” at the FortaRock festival.
According to Blabbermouth, organisers have said in a statement: “After the recent outbursts by singer Phil Anselmo during the Dimebash event in the US, his band Down is no longer welcome at FortaRock.
“There has been close consultation between all parties in recent days since we wanted to make a well-informed decision. On that basis, the decision is made to cancel the act.
“We want to make clear that there is no room for racism or fascism at FortaRock.”
Last week’s apology from Anselmo seemingly wasn’t enough for the organizers. I think no matter what, we can all admit it was stupid no matter how much you respect what Anselmo has done in his career. He’s a highly strung individual at the best of times, and an animal on-stage is rarely an Angel off.
