“The musical climate at that time was fantastic,” recalled Living Colour drummer Will Calhoun of the era that gave birth to the band’s debut album ‘Vivid’. “Rock and roll bands were back because in the 80’s they varied with kind of hairspray bands to grunge and heavy metal and funk rock and acid rock, and there was a lot of venues in New York that catered themselves to that style of music. Radio was still an open rock and roll format and I would have to say that as an industry rock was at its height so we fit right in.”
