With Fozzy returning to Australia for the first time in five years this November, frontman Chris Jericho feels it is important to set the record straight as to where Fozzy sits when it comes to entertainment.
“We play rock and roll with a smile,” he emphasized. “There’s nothing wrong with going to a rock and roll show and having a great time. It’s almost been a bad thing to say that for a while. We know fans of our band wanna have fun when they come to our shows. It’s like AC/DC in 1979 and if you put on anything with Bon Scott there’s the best vibes and they’re rocking and having fun and that’s what we do. That’s kind of Fozzy’s job is to have you come to our show and leave with a smile on your face and leave all the shit in your lives at home. We’re not a band to preach about Nelson Mandella – and it’s great if you wanna do that – but it’s just not gonna happen at a Fozzy show. To us it’s about drinking and chanting Fozzy and jumping up and down and showing your moves; just having a good time, and that’s something that people need right now and it’s something this band has staked our reputation on.”
Listen to the full interview to hear Chris discuss what Fozzy has in store for Australian fans, what he thinks of the bands current wave of success, some reflection on the latest album, ‘Judas’, that has catapulted the band into the upper echelon of music, his early interest in blending a rock career with his wrestling duties, why Fozzy’s first two albums were mainly covers plus the use of some of the worlds most famous guest artists on Fozzy albums.
