A.C.O.D. – II The Maelstrom – Album Review

A.C.O.D.
II The Maelstrom
Independent
Release Date: 15 September 2015
Review by Jake Gleeson

A.C.O.D’s follow up album from their 2013 EP Another Path picks up where they left off, with the intensity ever increasing. Unrelenting speed and aggression are executed and maintained here, through strong musicianship the band have clearly developed over the years.

II The Maelstrom is a solid offering of frantic, frenzied music, a pure sonic assault of death/thrash metal that will leave you hungry for more. Mastered by Logan Mader (Machine Head), which is a testament to the band’s potential, this album will not disappoint. There really is something for every metal fan on this release; from breakneck speed guitar riffing; to vicious, pounding drumming; dynamic bass playing and venomous, cut-throat vocals.

A.C.O.D. merge together as a tight unit, with this release showing that the French metal scene is a force to be reckoned with. Fans of Morbid Saint, Exhorder and Kreator should do themselves a favour and check these guys out. A must-have for any heavy metal maniac. Total rager from start to finish.
