Despite no new music being released so far this year, 2017 has been a belter of a year for Camp Cope. They sold out two shows at the iconic Sydney Opera House as part of the annual Vivid LIVE festival this year, made their highly anticipated touring debut in the United States where they played to adoring crowds across 13 states with US band Worriers, and headlined Melbourne’s Weekender Fest – a festival which they were opening band for two years earlier – and all between countless shows across Australia.
Camp Cope – Georgia Maq (vocals/guitar), Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich (bass) and Sarah Thompson (drums) – have become a force in music since forming in 2015. Their Australian Music Prize-shortlisted self-titled debut saw critical acclaim from all corners – it was included in SPIN Magazine’s best emo of 2016 and top albums in Noisey (US), with Brooklyn Vegan naming them one of the ‘Best New Bands’ and DIY Mag exclaiming, “it’s rare to find a band with the sheer songwriting ability and integrity of Camp Cope.”
Camp Cope will be previewing their forthcoming 2nd LP at Melbourne’s most stunning venue, The Forum, on Sunday December 3 with Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, and special guests RVG.
