Melbourne rock outfit Karly Jewell have released their first single for new label XMusic with the rock anthem Sad Girl.
Vocalist Karly Jewell says of the track “Sad Girl is a song about being confident in who you are and not worrying about what anyone says. It’s the song that brings everyone together because that’s what music does. If I could sum myself up in a song, well this is who I am.
I am that small town girl from where the two rivers meet. The girl that would stand under the stars as a five-year-old with my late grandfather dreaming so big with him telling me it’s just written in the stars.
I’ve always been known to write quite dark and sad songs, but who’s to say you can’t have fun with them and make them pop rock anthem tracks. I wouldn’t change who I am for the world, and I just love a good pop song that makes you want to dance. I am the Sad Girl making her dreams come true one song at a time.”
The band have released the track ahead of their second tour of Japan, which kicks off next week.
