Review by Steve Jenkins

This Californian trio may have just released the most intense and heaviest 22 minutes of power-violence ever created. If there was ever a band (with the exception of SLAYER) that deserves to have their name yelled at the top of your lungs and written in all caps, then it’s NAILS.

The best way to describe Nails is probably like taking all of your favourite parts from those longer songs that you love to listen to, and then just chopping it down to the most brutal riffs and hardest sounding moments. With most tracks averaging at just over one minute, it’s definitely a no filler and all killer type of assault that Nails have delivered on this album, which is what they’re known for.

You Will Never Be One Of Us is extremely vehement, abrasive and ferocious. The production is absolutely top notch with that level of vigour being captured beautifully. The closing track clocks in at just over 8 minutes which is by far the longest on the album, but it doesn’t depart from the core substance of the music that Nails create.

This album is perfect for anyone who wants to rage for a solid 20 minutes, whether you’re at the gym, on your lunch break at work or even doing the dishes. You Will Never Be One Of Us will make any situation that you’re in go from zero to extreme within seconds. I don’t remember anything that goes this hard in such a short amount of time since Slayer made Reign In Blood almost 30 years ago, and that’s saying something.

4/5
