Metallica Movie Release Dates Pushed Back

Share This:

The scheduled North American August release dates for Metallica’s first feature length film will now be held off till September.

The movie was slotted to premier in North America on August 9th and screen in IMAX cinema’s for a week but has now been rescheduled for late September, meaning other IMAX screenings outside the US won’t preview it till October.

Metallica Through The Never tells the story of a member of Metallica’s road crew who is sent on a mysterious mission during one of their concerts that subsequently turns his life upside down. The concert footage is all tied in together to make the story fit. The crew member is played by up and coming actor Dane DeHaan who is also currently filming  The Amazing Spiderman 2. DeHaan has called the film, “almost like a concert movie, meets The Wall, meets Metallica”. It was directed by Nimród Antal, who is best known for 2010’s Predators and the 2007 thriller Vacancy.

Metallica Through The Never has been spectacularly remastered and will play in 3D on IMAX screens. A statement released by Metallica’s drummer Lars Ulrich tells, “IMAX! It doesn’t get bigger or cooler than that! For four guys in a rock band of average height, to get a chance to unleash their 3D film on IMAX screens the size of buildings across the country is a mind-blowing thought”

The first still shot from the film has been released on the Entertainment Weekly website.
